Our history
A small hotel by East Beach, and the town that grew up around it.
From humble beginnings
The hotel has stood a short walk from the shore at East Beach for decades, on the quieter side of Cabrillo Boulevard. It was built to do a straightforward thing well: put people near the water without asking them to pay for a lobby they will not use.
Through the decades
Santa Barbara changed a great deal in that time — from a seaside town into somewhere people fly to. The waterfront was rebuilt, the Cabrillo Pavilion next door was restored, and the bike path arrived along the sand. The hotel stayed where it was and kept doing the same job.
And now
The rooms were renovated recently — new furniture, new decor, and kitchens added to several of them. The pool is heated year round, parking is still complimentary, and the beach is still a two-minute walk. We would rather be the hotel people come back to than the one they photograph.
